23. Big Data

Big Data in my life, well looking at everything going on today there are many things evolving in our lives with data. I honestly think that you should be careful believing everything you see on the internet because you can't believe everything you see or read about. I can say there have been many times I hear because this was said on the news or on social media it true, everyone thinks its true becuase it is on the internet. That is not the case thats like my daughter telling me a story being 2 1/2 her imagination runs wild!

22. Mislead Statistics

There are many misleading statistics on TV, one being the News ! We all turn to the news to find out information on whats going on around us but some of the information they gather is wrong. If you look on the internet anyone can make up information and say they got this information here or there but you really have to research to find out if it is true or not so you can give accurate information instead of misleading information.

21. Learning Networks

Personal Learning Networks, I found that this was extremely helpful, I use to go on to the South University library to research and Google. Now after being in this class we were taught to use Google Scholarly Articles so when  we gather information it is the correct information. I find that the Google scholarly articles make life easier they have so many articles on whatever topic you are looking for as for the South University Library may be a little limited. We are always learning something new!

20. Cancer Sucks!

My 2 year old daughter and I both barrel race and there was this horse my daughter rode named Tommy that we use to lead line through the patterns, he was the best horse took care of my daughter and babysat her I never had to worry one bit with her on his back ! He had an eye removed a year ago and that's when they found he had cancer even with 1 eye he still did anything and everything you asked from him. The vet told them he should have a year left to live and he can still do the shows until he starts showing some type of pain, being the great little guy he was he never showed it, 2 weeks ago was the last time my daughter got to ride him because a couple days later our friends that owned him called to inform us he had passed away...;( I was pretty upset because my daughter walks around telling everyone when they ask who her pony is she replies "TOMMY, MY TOMMY" she knew what horse was hers at the horse show when we go to our friends house she always knows what pasture he is in. Something like that is hard to explain to a 2 year old so I just told her "Tommy had a boo boo and now hes a star in the sky" I have to remind her when she asks for him and she will still tell you "my Tommy, Tommy star sky".  What I dreaded the most was going to her first horse show without him and asking for him, but to my surprise I told her she was riding Juliet she was excited but did say "Tommy, boo boo, sky" so I think she some what gets that Tommy is not here anymore, but she will make sure it's know that he was her TOMMY!

 A horse that couldn't ever be replaced!!!!!!!

19. Problem / Solution

Problem Solution..... Here we go!
Well a problem that I have came across this semester is that I have been majorly slacking in all my classes. I work at a Barn in Wellington doing Horse Watch and I have to be there at 9pm until 4:30am I was already signed up for my A&P 1 class on Monday and Wednesday morning then this class Monday and wednesday night, I thought I could be superwoman and go to school at 8:30am on 3 hours of sleep and do somewhat good. Well that wasn't the case I was slacking in both my classes so my solution to it was staying in this class in the afternoons and dropping out of my morning classes becuase I couldn't get with it so I came to the conclusion that I am not superwoman and its ok to drop out until this season is over (March 29) and I can take the class and study for it like I should be.

18. Affordable Care Act

Using the  Rogerian-style argument on the affordable care act, I personally disagree with it. I honestly think people should be given a choice if they want health insurance or not instead of making a person do something they don't want to do. Some people don't have health insurance and don't want it which that's fine that is supposed to be their choice not the governments! But with this style argument I can always go back and ask them some questions on their point of view on it to see what they may see and that I don't. It is always good to get the other person views on something that you may disagree on so you can understand it a little more clearly.

17.Logos

Logos, looking at a paper and seeing if its logical or not, well in many papers we do here at south we use many articles that are scholarly articles. In my papers I used scholarly articles in my paper so I knew the information I was adding to my paper was logical and true! when researching about nurses being mistreated you come across a wide variety of information but going by someone's very upset mad day they had one day and decided to write about it is not really as true to write about. A opinionated mad nurse blog compared to an article or journal that has backed up references and resources, you can tell which way you would go .

16.Ethos

Ethos is more of how you can prove that you have credibility. Many times in a paper or even an article in the newspaper will credit someone in it and give an explaniatin usually if it was used or approved by a doctor they will mention the doctors name and his title. In my paper we use scholarly articles for nursing and with that most of our researched resources included the people that were included in it with their title and names so everyone can see its someone they can trust.

15.Pathos

Pathos is a readers feelings it tends to get the reader going and set the emotion for the paper! In my paper about nurses getting mistreated this could definitely strike many types of emotions from everyone that may not have know about it, or even the people that understand how they are treated. This is something that I could put in a paper to help keep the reader focused and going. An example that I could think of to explain pathos is a commercial they have on tv of the other countries and they show young children that don't have much and are very thin, makes everyone feel bad and want to help !

14. The purpose !

The purpose of my paper is to voice my opinion on what I have gathered not only from what I have researched but what I have been told by someone from their experience of lacking respect to nurses. This is to bring it to others attention that nurses don't have it easy they are constantly under a bunch of stress and should be appreciated for it. A nursing graduate shouldn't be scared or feel uncomfortable to ask questions because we are all human no one will know how to start off their career they have never done before by not asking questions! That's just nonsense they shouldn't be treated like they are unknowledgeable or belittled because they don't have the years if experience others may have! We all have to start somewhere and I know no one spent all the time and money to be treated how some nurses are being treated!

13. Basic Argument

As I have mentioned in the previous post about the lack of respect that nurses receive from different people! So my basic argument is going to be about how patients doctors or whoever should have more respect for nurses. Going through nursing school is not easy ! It's a lot of hard work there is so much learning, time and dedication that we put into this career to be overlooked by others because we don't have the title as a "doctor".

12. Some good evidence while researching !

So as I was doing some research for my assignment on the lack of respect nurses get from different people I found some good evidence that helped support my topic ! As I already had some insights from my mother in law about how it was for her in the nursing field at a hospital it brought me to this topic. I was reading and found that some people coming straight from school are looked down apon like the don't know anything. They mention how the felt uncomfortable in the work place and mistreated by the co workers because they haven't been a nurse long enough. I find that absolutely ridiculous that every person needs to start somewhere and to feel that way isn't right. My mother in law told me that when she worked in the OB department most of the people have been there for years and acted as if they were better then here and she as well felt uncomfortable to ask for help. Maybe it's not everywhere or maybe others just need a reality check !

11. Issues in Nursing

Something I see as an issue in the nursing field is the lack of respect! Me as a person I feel everyone deserves respect until they have given you a reason not to respect them. So when it comes to a career I am getting into I find it horrible that people don't give the nurses more respect then they are given, this is coming from patients, doctors even co workers! If your a nurse caring for patients to get them better I think they deserve slot of credit, but patients look at nurses differently because they are not doctors, and doctors look at nurses like they have no knowledge because they are not as high up as they are, when in reality nurses have to learn so much almost as much as a doctor I think !

10. Outlook on What We Illogically Think about Different Groups of People

This is something everyone does, I don't care who it is we all do it we may not mean to or realize that we are doing it but in reality we all do ! I would give examples but at the same time I don't like it so I won't go there. Many people look at a group of people and automatically judge them by what they wear, color of their skin, what the drive, what the believe in, many things factor into this. As much as no one will really proudly admit to doing it but I have done it not even realizing it just like everyone else has.

9. Logical Fallacy in Popular Media

Now in media we sometimes don't get the whole truth, that's were logical fallacy comes in. The media makes errors all the time just like we all do, but sometimes they can really mix things up and confuse them. Logical facially really comes into play of understanding when you are writing a paper to persuade, you want to make sure you understand it and get the accurate information.

8. The Thesis

The thesis ! This is a important part of a paper. I think that it really helps the reader grasp the main idea on what you will be reading throughout the paper. I think it's important to have a thesis because if you do not then you would have a paper that has no purpose.

7. Deductive Reasoning

Deductive reasoning, this can be difficult for some but easy for others. I can honestly tell you all through grade school I would have a paper to write and as much as I read something over and over it was hard to grasp the main idea. I know that its in issue that many people may have but it is something we all may just have to practice at. Once I got the main idea we would start writing about it and I always would go off topic instead of sticking to my main idea that I had. Even to this day I have an issu with it and have to keep correcting myself and rereading it to make sure I stay on topic! It something that can be easily missed but somehing hat I need to stay on top of.

6. Thoughts on Peer Evaluation?!?

I think peer evaluation is a good idea! I think that it helps each of us get a better idea of stuff we may not understand from other classmates. I think that criticism is great and its a great way to teach our selves to understand how everyone else's ideas and seeing it in their perspective. The only thing that can be frustrating about it is when some people go in and write things to you about it that are pretty obviously known, instead of criticising your paper they instead point out the obvious.

5. Who has Authority??

Many people think its just police officers or our elders, parents, etc. are the only ones that have authority, in which they do but in reality we all do ! Every single person has authority I have authority as a parent yes, but I have authority for how I allow others to treat me as a person. Just like any person you have authority, you do not have to have a badge, or be a well known person to have authority. We all have authority to demand respect from others, how others treat you will be the reasoning on how you treat them back!

4. Should Teachers Be Allowed to Carry Weapons ?!?!

So the most recent topic on the news lately is should teachers be allowed to carry weapons in school? Well as a mother myself I feel that teachers should be the ones teaching and the cops should be the ones protecting ! My reason behind this is I feel that not everyone is for one comfortable with a gun or responsible with a gun so in that case they won't even carry it on them. This could lead to kids getting a hold of it and costing a person's life ! I think teachers went to school to teach kids and cops went to school to protect so I think we should leave it for the cops to do their job and not put more responsibility on the teachers.

3. Police violence

As seen all over TV, police violence is getting more and more common every day unfortunately! I understand where the cops feel more threatened now in days then before and have to take every precaution possible not to get themselves hurt but there needs to be some type of line drawn. I see some cases where people get killed by the cops because the cop feels like the person is going to harm them, which I understand if they are pointing a gun at someone or about to kill them then by all means they have the right too. But when no guns are being pointed and the cop feels like they are about to be in danger and unsure if they have a weapon or not and the person is not listening why kill them why not shoot them in the leg or something and settle it in court. I do to an extent see where the cops are getting the way they are because people now in days have no respect for others or for cops, the kids growing up these days are getting worse and worse and honestly we can only blame the parents for not raising their kids to have respect for others!

2. Recent Argument

Just like everyone else we all get into arguments, weather it be your best friend or your worst enemy, IT HAPPENS! So recently had an argument with my boyfriend, like I said before it happens the argument was so little and so dumb ! I asked him to throw the clothes in the dryer after they were finished washing while I was at work and I come home in the morning ( I work 5 nights a week) and I went to grab my school clothes and there they are sitting in the washer ! His excuse is our 2year old daughter was just being a handful..... My thoughts... really ?!?! How hard can it possibly be I do it all the time !! I can only laugh now to really think we had an argument about laundry!!  Men what can live with them can't live without them !

1 Introduction

Hello everyone, my name is Kelli Humpage, I am 24 years old born and raised here in Florida. I am a mother of a 2 year old named Aubrey Usher. I currently attend South University hoping to become a Registered Nurse. I have attended Florida Career College 5 years ago for Massage Therapy, I passed my state boards and became a Licensed Massage Thereapist and worked in a couple different Chiropractor offices but after a while I decided it wasn't what I wanted to do everyday all day, so  I decided to continue my education to become a nurse, and that is why I am here!
